SMC @ the Creative Careers Fair in Lagos |
It was a tremendous influx of people – exhibitors, visitors, creative talents, tourists, sightseers – into the new City Hall in Lagos Island on the 15th and 16th of July. They all came for the Creative Careers Fair organized by Enterprise Creative, a new non-profit organization, whose focus is on building capacity in the Nigerian creative industries.
The fair, designed to be done annually, showcased companies, talents and products in the creative industries, including TV, Film, Advertising, PR, Radio, Publishing, Performing Arts, Fashion, Visual Arts, Music and Design. It was actually the Enterprise Creative's first edition of the fair and was a deluxe effort.
The School of Media and Communication was not left out of the remarkable event as it was an opportunity to parley directly with the industry. As a partner of Samsung Electronics, in the organization of the Samsung Real Dreams programme , SMC seized the opportunity to showcase projects of the recently trained young people from the School for further engagement in the media industry.
For the Samsung Real Dreams exhibitors, it was a favourable outcome as they were able to meet people from a chain of creative industries as well as discover the various opportunities available in creative fields through a series of interactive talks by industry professionals. They also engaged in one-on-one discussions with professionals who were available to give them career advice and tips on pursuing their dreams in the media industry. |
