Introduction The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism of the School of Media and Communication, Pan-African University, Lagos is designed to prepare professionals for media practice in the twenty-first century, in accordance with international standards and the best traditions of Nigerian journalism. The programme is a training response to the radical transformations taking place in the media industry. It targets those already in the profession but who have had no previous training or have been inadequately equipped to meet the changing demands of industry today. It will serve as the best preparation for such newcomers to participate fully in an industry increasingly driven by knowledge, skills, creativity, passion and the spirit of enterprise. Programme Structure In all, there will be twelve courses spread between two semesters and the internship period. As part of this course regimen, there will be a project dissertation which will focus on a particular topic relevant to a student’s area of interest.
