Introduction The Postgraduate Diploma in Community Relations of the School of Media and Communication explores the conceptual, topical and technical aspects of Community Relations as a specialized organizational practice. Students will learn the importance, nature, changing contexts and techniques of various aspects of Community Relations. Comparisons and contrasts would be drawn between Community Relations practice by organizations in advanced economies and those operating in developing countries like Nigeria, in order to develop competencies that ensure best practices in community work, be it in the oil and gas industry, in telecommunications, in manufacturing, or in governmental and non-governmental agencies. Programme Structure The Postgraduate Diploma in Community Relations is structured as a two-semester programme that will run for nine months and an additional three months of internship for purposes of industrial experience. All together, the duration of the programme is twelve months. In all, there will be twelve courses spread between two semesters and the internship period. As part of this course regimen, there will be a project dissertation which will focus on a particular topic relevant to a student’s area of interest.
