| MSc. Student honoured for contributions in the development of Mass Communication | |
The African Youth Society has conferred Jennifer Igwe, Masters in Media and Communication student with the title “Fellow of the Emblem of Africa, FEA” and “African Youth Role model award”. The event took place on October 18, 2011 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island.According to the organizers of the "The African Youth Role Model Awards”, Igwe was selected for her outstanding contribution to the development of Mass Communication, Global Journalism and International Friendship. The panel stated that the honour is as a result of her great commitment to what is noble and just, having demonstrated high inspirational value with an impeccable track record of intelligence coupled with etiquette and exceptional moral rectitude without bad press. Similarly, the organizers of the Oba of Benin Green Awards 2011 have nominated Igwe as “Best Environmental Presenter in Nigeria”. The screening committee said Igwe was selected for the modest progress her programme on the Environment has been making in creating awareness on Environmental issues and climate change. It noted how she helped educate both policy makers and people on climate change especially at a time it was not popular in the country. |
