The first SMCAA forum and cocktail comes up on the 29th of April 2011 at the Pan-African University, Victoria Island campus. The event, which will begin at 4pm, will provide networking opportunities for members of the alumni association. It will be a chance for the alumni to learn from each other, to showcase their business initiatives and to share experiences from their chosen media fields.

The maiden edition titled ITINERANT LIFE: A DECADE OF TRAVELS AROUND NIGERIA will feature Mr. Pelu Awofeso. Awofeso, an alumnus of the Certificate in Media Enterprise Course, was awarded the CNN/Multichoice African Journalist of the year in 2010 in the tourism category. He will be talking about his experiences as a travel and tourism journalist.



Over the past decade, his articles have appeared in local and international journals such as the World Policy Journal (US), Travel Intelligence (UK), A24 Media (Kenya), The Standard, Africa Today, Network Africa, NEXT, The Guardian, National Daily and WINGS (Arik Air’s in-flight magazine).



Awofeso has written three travel books, the latest being Tour of Duty: Journeys Around Nigeria and Sketches of Everyday Life. He is the Managing Director of ‘Waka about’ a monthly Travel newsletter.
